Billie Eilish says the only reason she began wearing baggy clothes was because ‘I hated my body’

Billie Eilish says the only reason she began wearing baggy clothes was because ‘I hated my body’

Billie Eilish revealed that physical insecurities led her to adopt her signature baggy wardrobe in a Dazed interview published on Thursday.

When asked about her decision to wear loose-fitting clothes from the beginning of her career, the 18-year-old explained, “The only reason I did it was ‘cos I hated my body.

Often referred to as a “rule-breaker” for diverging from the aesthetics of young female musicians before her, Eilish denied making a contrived effort to dress differently; rather, the singer said she simply didn’t identify with her predecessors’ images.

I’d be like, ‘What rules are there?‘” she said, continuing, “I didn’t consciously go, ‘I’m not gonna do that, I’m gonna do this.’ I (just) didn’t think of myself as being in the realm of those people. I was never comparing myself to them.”

An EP, an LP, a few singles, and five Grammy Awards later, Eilish’s fashion choices have remained consistent from the start — always baggy but varying from neon green streetwear to a custom Chanel tweed suit on the red carpet.

She’s become so used to the style that she admitted to barely recognizing herself without it.

There was a point last year where I was naked and I didn’t recognize my body ‘cos I hadn’t seen it in a while,” she said, continuing, “I would see it sometimes and be like, ‘Whose body is that?'”

The singer said that her body image has since improved, although she still faces insecurities.

It’s not that I like (my body) now, I just think I’m a bit more OK with it,” she shared.

Just because Eilish has become slightly more comfortable in her own skin, the artist admitted that she still faces judgment for her appearance, despite her efforts to stand up against those trying to sexually objectify her.

When she was photographed in a white tank top in June 2019, Eilish recalled seeing comments like, “‘I don’t like her any more because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a w—-.'”

“Like, dude. I can’t win. I can-not win,” she told Dazed.

However, Eilish hasn’t stayed silent on the matter. In March, the singer called out body-shamers during an interlude at her Miami concert and played a video of herself stripping down to a bra.

Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me,” she said in the voiceover.

“If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a s—,” Eilish said, adding, “Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it, and judge me for it. Why?”

Billie Eilish Just Paid Tribute To Britney Spears During A Performance

This post is about Billie Eilish paying tribute to the legend, the icon, and the pop diva that is Britney Spears.

On Friday, the “xanny” singer performed at iHeartRadio’s annual Jingle Ball, but it was her outfit that had everyone’s attention. As you can see, Billie wore a t-shirt and shorts with Britney’s face all over it.

The sleeves of her t-shirt also featured images of the “Circus” singer and spelled out her name, so it’s safe to say Billie might just be a stan.

Billie Eilish‘s July has included two major highlights — a special Murakami exhibition and Justin Bieber remix — and the month’s far from over yet. German luxury label MCM has tapped the 17 year-old singer to star in its Fall/Winter 2019 campaign, demonstrating the collection’s genderless appeal.

Alongside rapper Childish Major, Eilish shows off a variety of transformative layering pieces and classic leather goods — in one shot, Major’s technical vest zips up into Eilish’s parka, demonstrating the new collection’s inherent fluidity. Lensed by rising London-based photographer Lea Colombo, the campaign utilizes a collage technique to both highlight the ease imparted by the versatile goods and the ever-shifting personal identities of Eilish and her Generation Z peers.

Key pieces range from baggy track suits to leather bucket hats to the brand’s clunky sneakers, with quilted coats and branded sweaters sporting neutral tones in stark contrast to the rich pink and natural leather of MCM‘s signature leather waist bags and backpacks. “I love to glorify the things that make people uncomfortable,” Eilish said in a statement. “We’re so used to one way of living that we think other peoples’ lifestyles are wrong — sometimes automatically, without even thinking. I want to mess with what people are used to. I want to be that other.”

Speaking on MCM’s renewed focus on ready-to-wear, MCM’s global creative officer Dirk Schönberger told WWD: “I’m not delusional: MCM is a leather goods brand, and we will not push that aside. But we want to build the ready-to-wear and shoes business organically.” Schönberger joined the German brand in October 2018, having worked as adidas’ creative director for eight years.

Expect the new collection to hit MCM’s website, physical boutiques and stockists like Neiman Marcus this month. Schönberger’s first complete collection for the brand arrives for Spring/Summer 2020.

Calvin Klein Debuts New #MyCalvins Campaign With Billie Eilish.

Billie Eilish doesn’t want you to know whether or not she’s “slim thick.

I never want the world to know everything about me,” Eilish shares in the new #MyCalvin’s campaign titled “I Speak My Truth.” “I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath.

Eilish is just one of the many stars to be a part of Calvin Klein’s new “I Speak My Truth” campaign. Launching today, May 9, the singer joins Alabama-born rapper Chika Oranika—who’s 2018 freestyle about Kanye West went viral and transformed her into a star—Noah Centineo, and Shawn Mendes, who debuted his shirt-less #MyCalvins underwear ad earlier this year, quenching the thirst of his die-hard fans’—and J. Lo’s (A-Rod chimed in, too), and mine, if we’re being quite honest.

As described by the brand, the new I Speak My Truth campaign “presents today’s most influential voices telling their own stories, in their own words – and invites others around the world to do the same.” In a series of videos directed by Jonas Lindstroem, each star in the campaign shares their personal truths through cheeky and emotional videos, including one where the internet’s usual goofy heartthrob, Noah Centineo, embraces his scars.

Starting today, Calvin Klein will roll out the campaign videos across their social platforms and encourage fans to speak their truth by using the hashtag #MyCalvins. Phase two of CK’s I Speak My Truth campaign will feature videos from A$AP Rocky, Bella Hadid, ELLE’s first transgender cover star Indya Moore, Kendall Jenner, Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract, Troye Sivan, and Korean actor Yoo Ah-In.
